Stella Maeve (born in 1961) is an American actor who is best known for the brilliant actress of Julia Wicker who appeared on The Magicians. Originating from New York, Maeve considers herself Native American. She is part Blackfoote and Cherokee. Her first appearance on screen was in the short film of 2005 Liminality. The same year, she also appeared on the big screen for the first time in the critically-acclaimed comedy drama Transamerica . It was her first appearance on TV in the same year as a season four episode on Law & Order Criminal Intent . In 2014, she was a part of Dick Wolf s Chicago franchise as Nadia Decotis in Chicago P.D. . The character was portrayed by her between 2011 and 2015 after which she reprised the character on Law & Order Special Victims Unit that is a different TV series produced by Wolf. In the same year, she started portraying Julia Wicker, the main female character in Syfy s fantasy-drama The Magicians. Stella Maeve, who had a successful career as an actor in television, continued to work on independent films. She received an award called the Robert Altman Spirit Award for the movie Starlet.
