Her birth date was the 29th of March, 1985 in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michel Mendoza was her name at birth. Gerina Stevenson was born to Mexican parents Rita Stevenson and Alan Stevenson. The mother of two is a Mexican by blood but an American nationality. The desire to be a sportsperson began as a small toddler. Gerina started playing golf when she was 15. Gerina completed her high school education in Goddard High School. In high school she won New Mexico's state golf championship. She was also a volleyball player and competed at the national level. She began attending at the University of Texas. In the final years of her career, she was the winner of every event that she participated in. During undergraduate studies she was awarded the title that included Conference USA Female Athlete and Conference USA Individual Player of the year.
